Behind the Scenes: How We Prepare for a Blackfort Equestrian Content Shoot
Welcome to a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes action at Blackfort Equestrian! Ever wondered what goes into creating the stunning content you see on our Instagram and TikTok? It’s not all glamorous—okay, it’s a little glamorous—but it’s also a lot of planning, creativity, and, yes, steaming clothes. Let’s dive into how we get everything ready for a shoot!
One Week Out: Planning and Prep
The week before a shoot is all about planning. We start by listing the items that need to be photographed. Are the new breggings launching soon? Do we need fresh shots of our Base layers?
Next up, it’s mood board time! We gather inspiration for the shoot— any colour schemes and poses! We also save any TikTok trends or cool ideas we’ve seen online. Writing down these concepts is key, so we don’t forget any props or details that will bring our vision to life.
We also brainstorm the reel content we need: detail shots of those sleek training tights, walking videos to show off how they move, and, of course, some candid moments!
The Day Before: Final Prep
The day before the shoot, we get into full-on prep mode. All garments are packed and carefully steamed to ensure they’re looking their absolute best. Everything is organized and ready to load into the car the next morning—no last-minute scrambling for us!
Shoot Day: Lights, Camera, Action!
Shoot day is always exciting! We load up the car and head to our location. If we’ve booked a venue, we usually have about four hours to get all the content we need. If it’s a local spot, we keep it short and sweet with a couple of hours.
Molly, head boss, takes the lead behind the camera! She captures all the key shots and videos, while Fran and Georgina occasionally get behind the lens, still mastering the art of the perfect shot… Meanwhile, we’re all about that BTS (behind-the-scenes) life, grabbing iPhone content to share the fun on our social channels.
After we’ve gone through four or five outfit changes and our energy levels are starting to dip, it’s time to pack up and head back.
Post-Shoot: The Editing Grind
Once we’re back at HQ, it’s time to upload all the content onto our laptops. The next day is dedicated to editing, tweaking, and perfecting every photo and video to ensure they’re as fabulous as our products.
